Living alongside or living together? Beyond tolerance...  with Revd Ruth Gouldbourne

In a multifaith, multicultural community, is religious tolerance simply living together without fighting, or might it have more substance than that? What resources might our history offer to explore this?
Ruth is currently one of the co-ministers at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church in London, though her first ministry was as assistant minister at Bunyan Meeting Free Church in Bedford. In between those, she has taught history and doctrine at Bristol Baptist College, and has a particular interest in Baptist history and identity.

In partnership  with St Albans Study Centre BELIEF can now offer you the following course

Introduction to the Old Testament

This course was an introduction to academic study of the Old Testament, covering the broad sweep of the text, but rooted also in the study of a range of specific passages, paying attention to their genre, structure, purpose, theology, and themes.  While attentive to the historical and critical issues of academic research, these issues will be applied for a better understanding of how the Old Testament works as scripture.

This was the pilot module for running the St Albans Certificate in Theology in Bedford, in partnership with BELIEF, as well as St Albans, and students may pursue modules at either centre.
This module may be taken independently, or as a 20 credit core module (with assessment) of SACT.
Tutor:  The Revd Dr Kevin Walton, Canon Chancellor
Cost:  £100
Venue:
St Andrews, Kimbolton Rd, Bedford, MK40 2PF
Dates:  Tuesdays 13 September-29 November (excl. 25 October and 1 November)
Doors open:  7.30pm

End time:  9.30pm (approximately)
This was a really good opportunity for those of you who might be ready to dip your toe in the waters of theological study normally run in St Albans  to participate in  our very own town!
